For a few years I have harbored a desire that is becoming more and more resonant – I want to take an extended vacation and experience that feeling we had as children once the school year ended. Counting down the days and longing for the cool azures of the blue Mediterranean Sea. Our schoolbag became a moot relic at the bottom of the closet in exchange for what would be an indulgent 60 days of carefree existence.
As summer drew closer and closer, daydreaming took over and a palpable anticipation could be felt. For me, long holidays have always been synonymous with trips to the seaside, particularly in the south of France. The water, the heat, the fresh scents of fruit and vegetables, the atmosphere of the markets, the nonstop swimming that is interrupted only by family lunches and the obligatory siesta.
It’s a true feeling of lightness of being that I would like to rediscover. Is Utopia possible? To simply put a sign on the shop door, leave everything behind for 8 weeks and get lost by the blue sea or elsewhere ?
A two months hiatus, for me and the entire staff. I’m thinking seriously about it, giving it form, and working on molding it into reality. Maybe we’ll get there next year ?
To be continued…
