Timeless Hardoy Chair
The butterfly chair … This chair was born in 1938 in Argentina, I always liked it. It is simply made of a structure comprising two curved tubular steel rods. Just to slip on this structure, a fabric, leather or net, like a hammock. The seat is comfortable, it marries the contact points of the body. The Hardoy chair, the butterfly chair, the BKF chair (for Bonet, Kurchan and Hardoy, its inventor architects who met as assistants in Le Corbusier’s workshop) is 80 years old today. Years passed and it can be said thatthe chair is timeless as it is still current.
Intemporelle Hardoy Chair
La chaise papillon… Ce modèle né en 1938 en Argentine, je l’ai toujours aimé. Il est simplement constitué d’une structure comprenant deux tiges d’acier tubulées courbées. Vient se glisser sur cette structure, un tissu, du cuir ou un filet, à la manière d’un hamac. L’assise est confortable, elle épouse les points de contacts du corps. La chaise Hardoy, la chaise papillon, la chaise BKF (pour Bonet, Kurchan et Hardoy, ses architectes inventeurs qui se sont rencontrés lorsqu’ils étaient assistants dans l’atelier de Le Corbusier) a 80 ans aujourd’hui. Avec le recul des années, on peut dire qu’elle est intemporelle tant elle est encore actuelle.
No-Mad version
The idea of inserting the Hardoy chair in the No-Mad collections was bold. Although it has travelled around the world since its creation, this chair was very little known in India. I decided to insert it in the No-Mad collections and create a real cloakroom. Naturally, the Hardoy chair fits well into Indian culture and its covers are now traveling all over the world. So that the chair has become a basic part of the No-Mad brand. In each collection, new covers are born, with the colors and motifs of the fabrics of this new collection. The Hardoy No-Mad chair is dressed, undressed and adorned with other shades that are always thought to be timeless.
Version No-Mad
L’idée d’insérer la chaise Hardoy dans les collections No-Mad était audacieuse. Bien qu’elle ait fait largement le tour du monde depuis sa création, cette chaise est très peu connue en Inde. J’ai décidé de l’insérer aux collections No-Mad et de lui créer un véritable vestiaire. Naturellement, la chaise Hardoy s’inscrit bien dans la culture indienne et ses housses voyagent aujourd’hui dans le monde entier. Si bien que la chaise est devenue une pièce de base de la marque No-Mad. A chaque collection, de nouvelles housses voient le jour, aux couleurs et motifs des tissus de cette nouvelle collection. La chaise Hardoy No-Mad s’habille, se dévêtit et se pare d’autres nuances toujours pensées, elles aussi, pour être intemporelles.
