History of tattoos

The pigment is impregnated in the skin, forever. Tattoos are indelible and millennium. Since prehistory, men pigmented their skin. Why ? By pride. To humiliate. To embellish. Every region of the world has its own way of apprehending the tattoo. Some motifs are similar to real works of art, others to signs, animals expressing a particular culture.

Histoire de tattoos

Le pigment s’imprègne dans la peau, pour toujours. La marque est indélébile et millénaire. Le tatouage existe depuis toujours… Depuis la préhistoire, les hommes pigmentent leur peau. Pourquoi ? Par fierté. Pour humilier. Pour embellir. Chaque région du monde a sa propre manière d’appréhender le tattoo. Certains motifs s’apparentent à de vraies œuvres d’art, d’autres à des signes, des animaux traduisant une culture particulière.

Le tatouage soigne pour certains, comme en Egypte.

Mais le tattoo a souvent, et surtout, une fonction initiatrice, esthétique, séduisante. En Polynésie, les jeunes pubères sont tatoués avant de prétendre au mariage. En Nouvelle Zélande, c’est la jeune fille qui se pare de motifs ancestraux. Le tattoo est partout. Interprété, varié, différent. Il traverse les âges, se fait discret ou imposant.

NM tattoos

For No-Mad, I followed my inspiration which took me on almost archaeological paths. The tattoo, I wanted to work on this subject for a long time … This notion of time inseparable from tattoo, I wanted to anchor it in this new collection. No-Mad tattoos look like texts in Hindi, flirt with Thai tattoos. They are printed or embroidered according to the size of the writing, seem to fade and gave birth to an abstract alphabet. They plunged No-Mad into a millennial trend.

Pour No-Mad, j’ai suivi mon inspiration qui m’a emmenée sur des chemins presque archéologiques. Le tattoo, je souhaitais le travailler depuis longtemps… Cette notion du temps indissociable du tatouage, j’ai souhaité l’ancrer dans cette nouvelle collection. Les tattoos No-Mad ressemblent à des textes en hindi, flirtent avec les tattoos thaï. Ils sont imprimés ou brodés en fonction de la taille de l’écriture, ils semblent s’effacer et ont donné naissance à un alphabet abstrait. Ils ont plongé No-Mad dans une tendance millénaire.
