When I was stuck at home during lockdown, seemingly eons ago now, I sometimes sat at meals contemplating how the basic idea of a table setting could be done differently. How could a tablecloth or a placemat be “different”? What about their shapes and configurations, and colors? During this exceptionally creative period, the idea of OZERA (or “lake” in Russian) was born. From my very initial sketches, the product came fully formed – an assortment of playful designs that are modular, interchangeable, and easily moved about to shift the setting.

Though available in our store and soon online, a special, unique set was made for Dar Kawa, my riad in Marrakech. Living with the linens every day, it was only natural to want and make some modifications. Remnants of dark gray cotton was something I had laying around, and thus it became a little exercise in upcycling. Simple and spontaneous, and yet maybe too complicated for its own good. But who doesn’t love a good brain teaser, and the movement of these pieces falls in alignment with how we also like to move and change, to vary the little pleasures in life.
